AP Cabinet Clears New Districts, Mandal Changes; Revised Structure from Jan 1

Andhra Pradesh: Three New Districts as AP Reaches 28, Effective from New Year’s Eve

Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, India: The Andhra Pradesh government has clarified details regarding the formation of new districts. A revised administrative map of the state has been finalized, confirming the creation of two new districts along with 25 boundary and jurisdictional modifications across 17 existing districts. Here is a detailed look at the key decisions.

The coalition government has taken a significant step by announcing the formation of two new districts in Andhra Pradesh: Polavaram and Markapuram. Officials stated that nine districts will remain unchanged, while adjustments have been carried out in 17 districts. These changes to divisions and mandals were made in line with public demand. The government criticized the previous administration, stating that earlier district bifurcations were carried out without proper planning. Authorities assured that areas surrounding Polavaram would receive focused development. Ministers added that many current issues could have been avoided if district reorganization had been handled transparently in the past.

As part of the restructuring, the regions of Markapuram, Giddalur, Kanigiri, and Yerragondapalem have been reorganized within district boundaries. Ministers also noted that residents of Railway Kodur have long expressed a desire to coordinate administratively with Tirupati. Banaganapalle and Crossroads are being separated into distinct divisions. All newly approved changes will come into force from January 1. The Annamayya district name will continue unchanged, with Madanapalle designated as its headquarters. The Cabinet has also cleared the transfer of the Rajampet Assembly constituency to Kadapa district. Approval has been granted to divide Adoni into two administrative zones.

Meanwhile, Minister Ramprasad Reddy stated that changes involving Rayachoti were made purely for administrative efficiency. He emphasized that he is unconcerned about his political prospects, saying that any personal loss would affect only his family. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the interests and future of the people of Rayachoti remain protected.
