Trump Extends Iran Strike Pause for 10 Days
United States: The uncertainty surrounding negotiations between the United States and Iran over ending the ongoing conflict continues, even as diplomatic signals suggest cautious progress.
In a significant development, US President Donald Trump announced a further suspension of planned attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure. The pause, initially temporary, has now been extended by an additional 10 days and will remain in effect until April 6.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump stated that the decision was made following a request from the Tehran government, indicating a willingness from both sides to pursue dialogue over escalation.
Earlier, Trump had issued a strong ultimatum to Iran, demanding the reopening of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. However, in a shift from that position, he later confirmed that ongoing negotiations had prompted a reconsideration, leading to an initial five-day suspension of strikes targeting Iran’s power plants and energy facilities.
The latest extension reflects what Trump described as “positive momentum” in discussions aimed at ending hostilities. He also urged caution against misinformation, stating that “false propaganda” should not be trusted, as diplomatic efforts are yielding visible progress.
Despite these developments, uncertainty remains over whether the temporary halt in attacks will evolve into a formal ceasefire or merely serve as a short-term de-escalation measure amid broader geopolitical tensions.
