The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu due to a deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal, which is expected to become a cyclonic storm. Several districts, including Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Villupuram, Karaikal, and Puducherry, have declared holidays for schools and colleges. Authorities have issued a red alert for the next few days as the cyclone moves toward the state, with the possibility of landfall between Puducherry and Chennai. Fishermen have been advised to move boats away from the sea as the storm intensifies.
