Hyderabad Osmania General Hospital
Hyderabad Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that a new Osmania General Hospital (OGH) building will be constructed on 30 acres in Goshamahal, with the foundation stone to be laid on the old police quarters site within 20 days. This decision comes as a relief to heritage enthusiasts, as the existing heritage structure will be preserved and restored. The Congress government’s shift from the previous BRS plan to demolish the old building reflects their commitment to maintaining the historical site while advancing healthcare infrastructure. The Osmania General Hospital, completed in 1925 and designed by architect Vincent Esch, is an iconic example of Indo-Saracenic architecture and an integral part of Hyderabad’s historical landscape.
