India advisory urging citizens to leave Iran amid rising tensions
New Delhi: The Government of India has issued an urgent advisory for Indian nationals currently residing in Iran, urging them to leave the country at the earliest in view of escalating tensions in West Asia.
In its latest statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) advised Indian citizens to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary movement, particularly near sensitive and border areas. The advisory strongly recommends that those who can leave Iran through available commercial means should do so without delay.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has also reiterated its guidance, encouraging citizens to remain in close contact and stay updated through official communication channels. Individuals have been specifically advised not to travel to border regions or areas with heightened security concerns without prior information.
For assistance, Indian nationals in Iran have been asked to contact the Embassy through the following helpline numbers: +989128109115, +989128109109, +989128109102. Additional support is available via the helpline number +989932179359 and email at cons.tehran@mea.gov.in
This advisory comes shortly after recent developments in the region, including a temporary ceasefire that followed a period of heightened tensions. Earlier advisories had urged citizens to remain indoors and follow safety protocols.
The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that it continues to closely monitor the situation in coordination with relevant authorities and remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all Indian nationals in Iran.
