The Indian Army has got the first bus to run on hydrogen fuel. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Army Chief General Manoj Pande and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Chairman Shrikant Madhav Vaidya in New Delhi on Monday.
The bus was handed over to the Army Chief by IOCL during a function here today. The Indian Army has inducted the first hydrogen-fueled bus into its fleet, displaying its determination towards finding green and sustainable transportation solutions.
The bus has a seating arrangement of 37 passengers.
The bus has a seating capacity of 37 passengers. The tank can be filled with 30 kg of hydrogen fuel at a time. There is a mileage of 250-300 km on the entire tank, which ensures zero carbon emissions.
"The Indian Army has been paving the way for environment-friendly transportation solutions while continuing with innovation, latest technology and commitment towards environment conservation," a statement said on the MoU signed between the Indian Army and Indian Oil Corporation Limited at an event held in New Delhi.
