Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: Wife Sonam Plots Husband Raja's Death
The Meghalaya honeymoon murder case has shocked the entire nation. It was discovered that Sonam, the wife of Raja Raghuvanshi, allegedly took him to Meghalaya under the pretense of a honeymoon and arranged his murder using hired killers. This brutal incident has deeply moved many. Sonam reportedly committed the crime for her lover. Raja’s death plunged his family into immense grief, and his mother has been inconsolable, asking why her innocent son was killed.
The main accused Sonam's brother, Govind, went to meet Raja’s family in Indore. Upon seeing Raja’s mother Uma, Govind broke into tears and they both cried together. He apologized to Raja’s mother and even addressed her as "mother." He promised her, saying, “I will personally attend the investigation and ensure Sonam gets punished.” As soon as Raja was reported missing during the honeymoon, Govind rushed to Shillong, searching relentlessly for Sonam despite heavy rains. Later, learning Sonam was alive, he traveled to Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. When Sonam was arrested by police under suspicion of Raja’s murder, Govind went there to support his sister.
Raja’s mother Uma broke down upon seeing Govind and cried, saying she never imagined Sonam would do such a thing. Raja’s brother Vipin Raghuvanshi confirmed, “Govind spoke with us yesterday and visited our home today as promised. He apologized to our mother and said if Sonam did anything wrong, she should not be spared.” On Wednesday, Sonam and four other accused were presented before a district court in Meghalaya. Police sought their custody to uncover how the murder happened. Investigations revealed that Raj Kushwaha, Sonam’s lover and the main accused, paid ₹50,000 to the killers for Raja’s murder. He also covered their hotel and travel expenses. After the crime, the killers destroyed their mobile phones and returned to Indore on separate trains. Vishal, one of the attackers, reportedly struck Raja on the head twice from behind before the body was dumped in a gorge. Sonam fled to Indore via Siliguri and stayed in a flat for two days before heading to Ghazipur, UP. Raja and Sonam were initially reported missing during their honeymoon last month. Earlier this month, Raja’s body was found, and Sonam later surrendered at a police station in Uttar Pradesh following the arrest of Raj Kushwaha.
