A Scottish university said that Higgs was a great teacher and an inspiration to young scientists. Peter Matheson, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, said Higgs was a great man. His vision and imagination have enriched our science and thousands of scientists have been inspired by his works.
What is Higgs boson theory?
Most scientists agree that the entire universe came into being with a big explosion about 1300 million years ago. But how exactly did this big bang happen? How are atoms and molecules formed? How the stars and planets formed in that later sequence is still unclear. In 1964, Peter Higgs along with five other scientists proposed a theory regarding the origin of the universe.
He proposed that all particles have a single particle that provides mass. Higgs and many other scientists have done a lot of research on the proposition that this boson imparts mass to other particles moving in a universal field (Higgs field). Although the existence of this cell is not clear, it is also called a 'divine cell'.
