Telangana AI Data Center Investment
The Government of Telangana has secured major international investment agreements under the “Telangana Rising” initiative led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, marking a significant step toward strengthening the state’s digital and industrial ecosystem.
As part of these agreements, the state has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UPC Vault, a joint venture between UPC Renewables Group and Vault Data Centers of Netherlands. Under the MoU, a state-of-the-art AI-enabled data center with a capacity of 100 MW will be established at Bharat Future City near Hyderabad. The project involves an investment of approximately Rs 5,000 crore over the next five years.
To ensure sustainable operations, a dedicated 100 MW renewable power plant will be developed exclusively to meet the energy requirements of the data center. Officials stated that the project is expected to generate nearly 3,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase, with an additional 800 permanent jobs once the facility becomes operational.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized that robust digital infrastructure is essential to achieving Telangana’s long-term vision of becoming a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to balancing rapid development with environmental protection. IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu added that the government is offering progressive policies and incentives to attract AI and data center investments.
In a parallel development, Schneider Electric India announced the expansion of its manufacturing operations in Telangana. The company will invest Rs 623 crore to expand its existing facilities at Shamshabad and Gagillapur, enhancing production capacity for air circuit breakers, moulded case breakers, contactors, and push buttons.
Government sources believe that these world-class technology investments will further establish Telangana as a leading hub for AI infrastructure and electronics manufacturing in India, while also contributing significantly to the state’s Net Zero and sustainable growth objectives.
