Three Hyderabad Youths Trapped at Myanmar–Thailand Border in Overseas Job Fraud

Hyderabad youths trapped in Myanmar

Hyderabad, Telangana, India: Three youths from Hyderabad have been stranded at the Myanmar–Thailand border after falling victim to an overseas job scam operated by cyber fraudsters. The victims were reportedly lured with promises of lucrative employment abroad.

According to family members, the youths—one from Osman Nagar and two from Moulali and Banjara Hills—were interviewed online by an organised cyber gang, which convinced them that they had secured legitimate jobs. They were taken to Thailand around 15 days ago.

However, upon arrival, the youths were allegedly confined to detention camps near the Myanmar border under suspicious circumstances. The victims later managed to inform their families in Hyderabad about their ordeal.

Seeking urgent intervention, the mother of one of the victims approached Asaduddin Owaisi and requested his assistance in securing her son’s release. Responding to the appeal, the Member of Parliament stated that the issue had been taken up with S Jaishankar, the Union Minister for External Affairs.

Mr Owaisi further said that efforts are underway to ensure the safe return of at least 16 individuals from Hyderabad and other parts of South India who are believed to be trapped by cyber fraud networks operating along the Myanmar border.
