US Iran Ceasefire 2026: Trump Calls It a Major Victory for World Peace
Washington, D.C., USA: After nearly 40 days of escalating tensions, the conflict between the United States and Iran has come to a halt following a two-week ceasefire agreement. The development marks a significant moment in efforts to stabilize the region.
Responding to the breakthrough, former U.S. President Donald Trump described the ceasefire as “a great day for world peace” in a statement shared on his social media platform.
Trump expressed optimism about the broader implications of the agreement, stating that it could mark the beginning of a “golden chapter” for West Asia. He noted that Iran appeared ready to step back from prolonged conflict, while emphasizing that the global community strongly supports an end to hostilities.
He further highlighted potential economic and strategic opportunities, including efforts by the United States to assist in reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Trump added that the ceasefire could pave the way for renewed commercial activity and enable Iran to begin rebuilding its economy.
“The United States will work diligently to ensure these developments move forward. Just like our country, Iran has the potential for better days ahead,” he said.
Meanwhile, reports have suggested that China may have played a role in encouraging Iran to engage in ceasefire negotiations. When asked about Beijing’s involvement, Trump acknowledged the possibility, stating, “I have also heard that. I think so.”
The remarks come ahead of Trump’s anticipated visit to China later this year, adding further diplomatic significance to the ongoing developments.
