TVK Seeks Unique Symbol for Upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
Chennai,Tamil Nadu, India: The Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has officially approached the Election Commission of India (ECI) requesting the allotment of a special election symbol ahead of next year’s Assembly elections. On Tuesday, TVK representatives submitted a formal application at the ECI headquarters in New Delhi, proposing one of ten symbols for use in the polls.
According to party sources, TVK Joint General Secretary Nirmal Kumar, senior leader Arjuna Murthy, and other members personally met Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and other officials to hand over the application.
TVK, which was registered as a regional political party with the Election Commission on February 7, is gearing up for its electoral debut under the leadership of actor-turned-politician Vijay. The party is preparing to contest all 234 constituencies across Tamil Nadu and has set up multiple committees to oversee campaign strategies, polling booth management, and public outreach activities.
As per Election Commission guidelines, newly registered political parties must obtain an official symbol before contesting their first election. TVK has applied for one from the list of 184 available symbols announced by the ECI. The Commission will review the request and assign one symbol, likely under the Independent category.
Party insiders revealed that once the symbol is finalized, TVK plans to launch an extensive awareness campaign to familiarize voters with it.
