Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, India: TVK president Vijay announced that his party would offer major welfare benefits if it forms the next government. Addressing supporters at the Jeppiaar Institute premises in Kunnam village of Kancheepuram district on Sunday morning, he said that every family would receive a newly built house and a free two-wheeler if Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam wins the upcoming Assembly elections.
While outlining his plans, Vijay paused briefly and then added that there is widespread expectation among the public that each household could even receive a free car. He stated that this expectation would soon become a reality if TVK comes to power, expressing strong confidence that the people support the party.
Vijay also promised that his government would ensure employment for at least one member of every family to help meet financial needs. He further assured improved medical facilities in government hospitals and stronger measures for women’s safety.
Criticising the AIADMK, he questioned why the party continues to carry a photograph of its founder MGR’s mentor, former chief minister C.N. Annadurai, on its flag. Without naming individuals, he remarked that those leading the party today have strayed far from its original principles. Vijay added that he personally holds no bitterness toward AIADMK, but said he would continue to question any ruling party that misleads people.
He recalled that his political journey began in Parandur, also in Kancheepuram district.
Turning his attention to the DMK, Vijay said that several DMK leaders had mocked TVK members by calling them “fools.” He accused the DMK of lacking clear objectives despite being a party celebrating its 75th year. He alleged that their main intention was to misuse public resources. Vijay also criticised the ruling party for failing to fulfil its promise of scrapping the NEET exam after assuming power. Stating that he had refrained from attacking the DMK until now, he warned that the party should be prepared to face stronger criticism from him in the coming days.
