What Happened When Vijay Was Mobbed by Fans at Chennai Airport? Video

TVK Leader Vijay Stumbles Amid Heavy Crowd at Chennai Airport

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India: TVK president Vijay stumbled and fell momentarily at Chennai airport after being surrounded by a large gathering of supporters as he moved toward his vehicle.

Actor-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay briefly lost his balance on Sunday while attempting to enter his car at the Chennai airport, where a sizable crowd had assembled to welcome him. Security personnel quickly stepped in, helping him regain his footing and guiding him safely into the vehicle.

Footage capturing the incident circulated rapidly across social media platforms. Reports indicate that Vijay had just returned from Malaysia, where he attended the audio launch event of his film Jana Nayagan.

Video clips released by news agency PTI showed thousands of supporters filling the airport premises to greet him upon arrival. As Vijay proceeded toward the exit through the packed crowd, people pushed forward, causing him to trip moments before reaching his car. His security team promptly assisted him and ensured his safe departure.

Vijay had traveled to Malaysia for the audio release of Jana Nayagan, an event that reportedly attracted nearly one lakh attendees. The program was recorded in the Malaysian Book of Records for hosting the largest audience at an audio launch event. Malaysia is known to have the largest Tamil population in the world after Sri Lanka.

“I Left Cinema to Stand for My Supporters,” Says Vijay

Addressing fans at the event, Vijay stated that he had decided to step away from cinema to represent those who stood by him throughout his journey. He said his supporters had given him everything, including what he described as a "kottai." In Tamil Nadu, the word refers to a stronghold and also symbolizes Fort St. George, the historic structure that houses the state assembly, secretariat, and the chief ministers office.

"When I entered films, I believed I was building a small sand house. But you turned it into a palace. You helped me build a fort. That is why I chose to stand for you. Since you gave everything for me, I am now giving up cinema," he said.

Earlier this year, Vijay announced his decision to contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections from the Madurai East constituency. He described the political contest as one between the ruling DMK and his party.

Vijay has been projecting TVK as a new political alternative in Tamil Nadu, positioning it against both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the AIADMK.
