VK Sasikala launches APMMK political party
Chennai: With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approaching, a new political party has entered the state's political arena. VK Sasikala, a former close associate of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and an expelled leader of the AIADMK, has announced the formation of her new party named All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (APMMK).
Sasikala also revealed the party’s official election symbol, which features four coconut trees. The announcement was made during a press conference held at her residence in Poes Garden, Chennai, on Friday. According to her statement, the Election Commission has approved the party symbol.
Speaking to the media, Sasikala said the newly formed party plans to contest the upcoming Assembly elections in both Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. She added that the party intends to work together with leaders and supporters who have differences with the AIADMK.
Sasikala further stated that one of the key objectives of the party is to remove the DMK government from power in Tamil Nadu. She alleged that both the DMK and the AIADMK have not been sincere in addressing the problems faced by the people.
“Our party will present the real issues faced by the public and seek their support in the upcoming elections,” she said.
