2 LPG Cargo Vessels reach India through Strait of Hormuz

Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, two tanker vessels carrying LPG (cooking gas) to India have successfully crossed the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, officials confirmed on Thursday. With the safe arrival of these vessels, the total number of cargo ships that have navigated the sensitive maritime route and reached India since the beginning of the regional crisis has increased to 13.

Officials stated that the LPG tanker vessel Saimi crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, while another tanker, NV Sunshine, safely passed through the turbulent waters on Thursday. The successful transit of the vessels comes as global concerns continue over the security of shipping routes in the Gulf region, which plays a critical role in international energy supplies.

In a separate maritime incident, Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, revealed that an Indian dhow named Haji Ali sank in Oman’s territorial waters on Wednesday following an attack while travelling from Somalia to Sharjah.

Although authorities did not disclose who was responsible for the attack, officials confirmed that all 14 crew members onboard the Haji Ali were rescued safely. The incident has once again highlighted growing security concerns in key shipping corridors across West Asia.
