Chennai: Popular actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to take a significant step in his political journey by unveiling the list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The announcement is scheduled for March 29, when Vijay will personally introduce the candidates representing the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). This marks the party’s first electoral contest since its formation, making it a crucial milestone in its political trajectory.

According to party general secretary N. Anand, a meeting of state-level representatives will be held at a prominent hotel in Chennai on Sunday. During this gathering, Vijay is expected to officially disclose the final list of candidates and outline the party’s electoral strategy.

The TVK has decided to contest independently in all 234 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, as well as 30 constituencies in Puducherry. While candidate selection for Puducherry has already been completed, the final list for Tamil Nadu will be announced at the upcoming meeting.

As per the election schedule, Puducherry will go to the polls on April 9, followed by Tamil Nadu on April 23. With limited time remaining, Vijay is expected to accelerate campaign activities and strengthen grassroots outreach across both regions.

Having built a massive fan base through his film career, Vijay is now stepping into active politics, aiming to establish a strong presence in the state. His entry has already generated considerable interest, particularly as major parties like the DMK and AIADMK continue to refine their strategies.
