Bengal Waqf Law Protests: Bangladeshi Infiltrators Linked To Violence

Bangladeshi Miscreants Behind Bengal Waqf Violence, Probe Reveals

An initial investigation into the recent violence in West Bengal over the Waqf law has revealed the involvement of Bangladeshi miscreants, according to sources from the Union Home Ministry. The unrest, which affected the Murshidabad and South 24 Parganas districts, resulted in three deaths and numerous injuries. The probe also found that the Mamata Banerjee-led government failed to monitor the intruders, exacerbating the situation.

The violence erupted following protests against the Waqf law, which aims to expand government oversight of Waqf properties. The law, passed earlier this month, has been opposed by some members of the Muslim community, who view it as an attempt to seize their land. Shops, vehicles, and local homes were damaged, and many residents fled the areas. Murshidabad, a Muslim-majority district bordering Bangladesh, has seen widespread unrest since April 11.
