Dallas, Texas, USA: The 218th Telugu Literary Conference of the Telugu Sahitya Vedike, organized by the Dallas-Fort Worth North Texas Telugu Association (TANTEX), was held on September 21, 2019, in Dallas. The program began with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome to the attendees.

Dayakar Mada, the event coordinator, highlighted that for the past 18 years, the association has been successfully organizing literary programs on the third Sunday of every month. On this occasion, he paid tribute to the noted poet Alluri Bairagi by reciting his famous poem “Naakkandam Nammakamivu”, which continues to inspire Telugu literature enthusiasts.

Dr. Narasimha Reddy conducted an engaging word puzzle activity titled “Mana Telugu Sirisampalu”, which was well received by the audience. The chief guest, Dr. Voleti Parvatheesam, was introduced by Dayakar Mada, who praised Dr. Parvatheesam’s remarkable four-decade-long contributions to the media world.

In his address, Dr. Parvatheesam spoke about the life and works of the legendary poet Dasarathi and shared personal memories of working with him in radio. His speech was enriched by the rendition of Dasarathi’s iconic song “Mahandrodayam.” Later, the gathering echoed with patriotic fervor as the Telugu national anthem “Kaiyyetti Jaikotti Telugoda” written by Vemulapalli Srikrishna was sung with great enthusiasm.

On behalf of TANTEX President Chandrasekhar Pottipati, coordinator Dayakar Mada honored the chief guest Dr. Voleti Parvatheesam, along with Gani and other dignitaries. Prominent personalities including Dr. Prasad Thotakura, Dr. Narasimha Reddy Urimindi, Subrahmanyam Jonnalagadda, Chinna Satyam Veernapu, Prof. Ram Danta, Prof. Puduru Jagadeeswaran, Chandrahas Maddukuri, Madisetty Gopal, Lenin Banda, Gautami Mada, Lakshmi Yadanapudi, Lenin Vemula, Vijaya Mamunuri, Saroja Komaravolu, and Govardhana Rao Nidiganti actively participated in the event.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dayakar Mada, who expressed gratitude to the donors, the governing council, the executive committee members, and all participants for their support and dedication in making the program a success.
