Dhurandhar Banned in Gulf Countries, Producers Appeal to PM Modi for Intervention

Dhurandhar: Durandhar Faces Ban, Appeal Made to PM Modi for Action

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India: The Bollywood movie Dhurandhar, which has been creating a strong impact at the box office, has been prohibited from screening across several West Asian nations.

Despite its massive commercial success, the film has been barred from release in multiple Gulf countries. In response, the Producers Council has formally approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to step in and address the issue. In their letter, the council stated that Dhurandhar has been banned in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, and requested government-level intervention.

The association emphasized that the movie has already received clearance from the censor board, confirming that it contains no inappropriate or offensive content. Preventing its release in these regions, they argued, amounts to a restriction on creative freedom. The Indian Motion Pictures Association highlighted that the film stands among the most successful productions in the history of Indian cinema.

The Producers Council further pointed out that Gulf nations share friendly diplomatic ties with India. They appealed to the Prime Minister to initiate discussions with the concerned authorities in those countries and take necessary measures to revoke the ban at the earliest, in order to uphold freedom of expression.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Durandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role. Released in a single language, the film has already emerged as the highest earning Indian movie.
