Indian High School Alumni Launch Support Fund for Disadvantaged Students
Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India: Graduates from Gulmohur High School’s Class of 1991 unveiled a new financial support program for economically disadvantaged students during a three-day alumni meet held in Jamshedpur from December 26 to 28.
Approximately 75 alumni, now residing in different parts of India and abroad, attended the reunion, titled Revibe 91. The event marked the passage of several decades since their school days while reaffirming their commitment to assist present and future students of the institution.
According to the organizers, the initiative represents the batch’s collective resolve to give back to the school that played a key role in shaping their formative years. The reunion also featured a heartfelt remembrance of a former classmate who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Members of the organizing committee, including co-chairs Swaminathan and Abhay Kumar Singh, along with Sunita Rao, C. H. Pranahita, Arpito Gope, Binita Mohanty, Amit Guha, Monika Srivastava, Arjun Katiyar, and Dharampal Singh, received appreciation from fellow alumni and school authorities for their efforts in planning and successfully conducting the event.
Calling the occasion deeply meaningful, Swaminathan said the reunion coincided with the batch reaching the milestone age of 50 and also commemorated 45 years since their schooling began. Speaking about the financial aid program, he described the “Gratitude for Gulmohur” initiative as the most memorable highlight of the reunion.
He further noted that the gathering provided an opportunity to honor teachers who guided the students during their early years. Recalling the celebrations, he said the day at the school campus was filled with nostalgia through shared memories, music, skits, quizzes, audio-visual presentations, and felicitation ceremonies that expressed appreciation for the foundation the school had provided.
Deepak Kumar Jha, executive editor of The Pioneer and a fellow alumnus from the same batch, said his professional path was strongly influenced by the values and lessons learned at Gulmohur School. He credited teachers, classmates, and staff, and reflected on the school motto, “Stop Not Till the Goal is Reached.”
Organizing committee members stated that the financial assistance initiative will be expanded in the coming months to provide sustained support to students facing financial hardship.
