Indonesia Launches $247 Million Free Health Screening Program

Indonesia free health screening program 2025

Indonesia launched a free health screening program on February 10, with a budget of 3 trillion rupiah (S$247 million), aiming to prevent early deaths. The program, which will eventually offer annual screenings on people's birthdays, includes tests for blood pressure, heart and stroke risks, and eye health. Initially targeting children under six and adults aged 18 and above, the program seeks to reach 100 million people this year. While not mandatory, it promotes preventive care, addressing the country's leading causes of death such as stroke, heart disease, and tuberculosis. The initiative, being rolled out across 20,000 health centers, also includes mental health checks for depression and anxiety. However, experts have raised concerns about the potential strain on local health services.
