Cyclone Dana, now a severe storm in the North-West Bay of Bengal, is expected to make landfall between midnight tonight and Friday morning. Currently, it is situated 260 km from Paradeep, Odisha, and is predicted to significantly impact both Odisha and West Bengal.
As a precaution, the Indian Archaeology Department has decided to close two major temples: the Jagannath Temple in Puri and the Surya Temple in Konark. This measure aims to prevent any incidents related to the storm, which is known for attracting thousands of devotees.
In addition to the temple closures, many monuments and museums will also be shut down. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in several districts of Odisha, prompting schools in those areas to close. Furthermore, around 150 trains in the South Eastern region have been canceled due to the cyclone's impact.
