Doha, Qatar: Nandini Abbagauni, a prominent Telangana leader based in Qatar, has been selected for the prestigious Nari Shakti Samman Award. According to an official statement from the Indian Embassy in Qatar, the honor recognizes her dedicated efforts in promoting Indian culture and strengthening cultural ties between India and Qatar.
Widely respected within the Indian diaspora, Nandini is fondly known as the “daughter of Bathukamma” in Qatar. Through innovative cultural and literary initiatives, she has consistently represented the spirit of Telangana and the strength of modern Indian womanhood in the Gulf region.
The award was presented as part of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations organized by the Indian Embassy. The ceremony took place in Doha and honored several women for their resilience, social service, and community contributions. Nandini was recognized for preserving Indian heritage and enhancing India–Qatar relations.
The honor was conferred by Vipul, the Indian Ambassador to Qatar, in the presence of Telugu community members, non-resident Indians from various states, diplomats, and senior officials.
Formerly the president of Telangana Jagruti, Nandini played a key role in popularizing Bathukamma celebrations in Qatar and highlighting Telanganas cultural legacy. Along with her husband Sridhar Goud, a noted Telugu social activist, she continues to guide Indian cultural associations and women’s groups, strengthening unity within the Telugu and Indian communities abroad.
