No Lockdown Due to LPG Shortage: Centre Clarifies, Puri Dismisses Rumours

Hardeep Singh Puri denies LPG shortage lockdown rumours in India

New Delhi: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, has firmly rejected claims that India might face a nationwide lockdown due to an LPG shortage. He made it clear that the central government is not considering any such plan at present.

As speculation and rumours about a possible lockdown linked to LPG supply issues began to spread, the Centre acted promptly to calm public concerns. The minister assured that there will be no limitations on people or economic operations, stressing that the information circulating on social media is completely unfounded.

In a message posted on X, Puri stated that although global uncertainties continue, the government is actively keeping track of fuel and essential supply chains. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, necessary steps are being taken in advance to maintain a steady supply of fuel, electricity, and other vital services nationwide.

The minister also emphasized that India has repeatedly shown strong resilience during global crises and expressed confidence in the country’s ability to manage the current situation effectively. He appealed to citizens to stay composed and refrain from sharing misleading information.

“Claims suggesting an imminent lockdown are entirely incorrect. There is no such proposal. Everyone should behave responsibly and avoid spreading rumours that may cause unnecessary panic,” he said.
