Telangana Municipal Elections: The stage is set for the municipal elections in Telangana. It seems that the date for the local body elections across the state has been finalized. The Telangana government gave the green signal for the municipal elections at the state cabinet meeting held on Sunday (January 18, 2026).

The approval of key issues such as the delimitation of districts was also approved in this cabinet meeting. Meanwhile, the state government has already finalised reservation for the posts of mayor and chairperson in 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations in the state.

With the announcement of reservations, the election in the respective municipalities has begun. While the aspirants have intensified their efforts for tickets, the party is in full swing around its top leaders. The ruling Congress, along with the opposition BRS and the BJP, are engaged in a strategy to capture power in the municipalities that have expired.

If the official election schedule is announced in the next three days, the political battle for local bodies in Telangana will become more exciting.
