Drone attack near Dubai International Airport causes fuel tank fire
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Rising tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States have entered their third week in the Middle East, raising concerns about regional security and aviation safety.
In the early hours of Monday, a drone strike was reported near Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs. According to officials, the drone struck a fuel storage tank located close to the airport premises, triggering a large fire and prompting emergency response measures.
Following the incident, Dubai Civil Aviation authorities temporarily suspended all flight operations at the airport as a precautionary measure. Passengers and airline crews were advised to check with their respective airlines for updated flight schedules and travel advisories.
Airport authorities confirmed that several incoming flights were diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport to ensure operational safety and minimize disruption.
Drone Incident Near Airport
The Dubai Media Office confirmed that the incident involved a drone that struck a fuel tank near the airport. Civil defence teams responded swiftly and managed to bring the fire under control.
Officials reported that no casualties or injuries occurred during the incident.
Authorities stated that the temporary suspension of flights was implemented to safeguard passengers, airline crews, and airport personnel while emergency teams handled the situation.
While UAE authorities have not officially identified the party responsible for the drone strike, some international media reports have linked the incident to the ongoing regional tensions involving Iran.
According to officials, the drone attack caused damage to a fuel storage facility but did not result in any loss of life. Emergency crews worked through the morning to fully contain the fire and secure the area.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing security risks in the region amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.
